Leading up to the Smart Cups product launch, CGK Consulting Group in coordination with Techne Control Systems and California Comfort Systems designed and installed a precision dehumidification and temperature control system in the Smart Cups manufacturing, storage, and laboratory spaces. The system consisted of a Munters desiccant wheel dehumidifier, a single stage of DX pre-cooling, and two stages of DX post-cooling, and an LG MultiF-Max heat pumps for modulating temperature trim control.
CGK Consulting Group’s MEP and Controls engineering department collaborated on equipment and controls specifications to developed an integrated Building Automation System (BAS) architecture to provide centralized control over the manufacturing, storage, and laboratory HVAC systems. This architecture utilizes multiple communication mediums including traditional analog and digital signals, BACnet MS/TP communications, and TCP/IP over Ethernet for integrating the BAS controller to the in-panel touch screen display and existing Smart Cups business network.
Techne Control Systems, the control implementation subsidiary of CGK Consulting Group, designed, built, and installed a custom control panel centered around a Lynxspring JENEsys® Edge™ 534 running the Tridium Niagara 4 framework. Control programming and human machine interface development was performed off-site at Techne Control Systems development lab and then installed ready for commissioning at the Smart Cups site. In parallel with the mechanical installation, Techne performed the installation the installation of instrumentation, final control elements, point-to-point wiring, BACnet wiring, and CAT6 networking throughout the building to ensure a timely start up. This Design-Build implementation by Smart Cups, CGK Consulting Group, Techne Control Systems, and California Comfort Systems is a shining example of the use of integrated project delivery to meet and exceed the customer expectations of performance an project execution.
